Another place based response: Education participation for parents

From next year, parents in 10 disadvantaged regions who have a child aged six months or older will have to attend meetings with Centrelink. […] The plan is aimed at teenagers finishing school or attending TAFE so they can become job-ready when they move off parenting payments.

One Response to “Another place based response: Education participation for parents”

  1. Tracey Says:

The ALP Blog does say that this program is being tried in place based communities.

Also, Kate Ellis writes, ‘Several [of the teenage mothers at the announcement], I was pleased to hear are training to be child care workers.’

Well, from what I know of people who work in the child care industry it’s a profession that needs switched on and caring people but does not pay particularly well and is highly causalised.
